Chandrapur District is famous for its reservoir of flora and fauna and dense forest. Quintessential Chandrapur has always thrived on diversity. Virtually nonexistent technical education in the district broke the shackles in 1983 when Rajiv Gandhi College of Engg. Research and Technology (formerly Chandrapur Engg. College) started in Chandrapur. What started as a small endeavor to impart technical education over a barren land with 5 branches and intake capacity of 180 has now been transformed into the centre of excellence.
